The Woburn Abbey Gardens team is linking up with their colleagues from The Bedford Estates London Gardens team to hold a series of pop-up workshop demonstrations each day throughout the Store Street Spring Market to show visitors how to grow your own (GYO).
Come along and learn all you need to do to be successful and GYO this summer. Not only do home-grown veg look good, they taste good and you get to enjoy the satisfaction of growing the food you eat too!
No matter how large or small your garden – or even if you only have a balcony or window sill, the gardeners will show you how to create luscious window boxes full of fresh herbs and juicy salad vegetables. Join them sowing seeds, pricking out seedlings, discussing the tastiest varieties to grow and the merits of using peat-free compost.
The gardeners will also be demonstrating the very latest WaterWick watering systems, which means you’ll never have to worry about how much to water your plants ever again.
Join us to learn how to grow leafy salad herbs such as basil, lettuce and oregano. Did you know many herbs can be used not only in cooking but for tisanes and teas?
Got a window sill? Why not grow your very own herbal tea bar window box using melissa, mint and lemon thyme? Or grow your own cocktail botanics such as mint and rosemary to flavour your favourite tipple – it’s never been easier!
Covent Garden in London was once owned by The Bedford Estates and in the eighteenth century was renowned for the quality fruit, vegetables and flowers sold within the elegant façade of the market there. Growing fruit, vegetables and flowers still continues on The Bedford Estates today, primarily in the award-winning gardens at Woburn Abbey and Gardens in Bedfordshire – why not pay us a visit?
If you have any questions or want to have a go, the RHS-qualified gardeners will be only too happy to help.
